A physician from Harvard recently published a brief article about the 6 self-care steps to consider during a pandemic. The first self-care step discussed was to, "Acknowledge the Turbulence." During this uncertain season a lot has changed, keeps changing, and will continue to change. It's not only difficult to keep up with the changes themselves, but it can be hard and exhausting to keep up with how all the changes, adaptations, and losses are affecting us.
It's helpful - and at this point very important - to do regular self check-ins. A self-check in like taking your emotional and mental temperature. The key to a good self check-in is to do it non-judgmentally. Allow yourself to acknowledge how you are feeling, without pressure to feel or think a certain way.
Giving yourself space and permission to acknowledge how this challenging time is impacting you is key to providing good self care.
